NASHVILLE, TN. Jack the Scottie, candidate for president of the backyard has received a number of celebrity endorsements this week. Support for his campaign is swelling like a tick on a hound dog.
GARFIELD THE CAT released a statement saying, “Though Jack has never eaten lasagna, he can be trusted with the leadership of the backyard, especially if he invites Odie over for a sleepover at least once a month.”
THE DESCENDENTS OF LASSIE, star of radio, movies, and television called the candidate to encourage him and offer their heartfelt endorsement. Unfortunately, we are not able to share the recording of the call. The conversation was cut short by an emergency. Timmy, apparently, was in the well.
ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS heard of Jack’s visit to the chipmunk den in the back yard in the middle of a rainstorm. They sent their endorsement in the form of a song. Jack was touched by their rendition of “Only You.”
Campaign staff are reportedly pleased with the diversity of these endorsements. Campaign manager, Arya, said, “We continue to have high-level conversations with staff representing other celebrities and are confident that we will have more endorsements coming soon. The campaign staff asks Jack’s followers if any of you have special connections or recommendations we should know about. Thank you!”
I hope Timmy is safe at home by now.
Timmy is just fine, we believe. But they’ve got to do something about that well!
Oh, the cliches! When I read about Timmy in the well AGAIN, I hooted so loud that I scared my cats. Will that boy EVER learn to look before he leaps? Alvin, Simon, Theodore – oh, so sweet. I could do without that hound dog reference (shudder…parasites).
Okay, Arya, here’s the deal. I know NO celebrities yet I always have recommendations. These, like Lassie, are WAY before your time, yet I wonder if My Friend Flicka might be a yeah-sayer (not a neigh-sayer!) in Jack’s campaign. And vintage Rin Tin Tin might have advice from the frontier; his pal the boy-soldier (which we thought was cute, way back when) knew about perimeters. Avoid Mr. Ed; he was just a mouthpiece although nice looking. There was a cat and dog duo who made a long journey; they know wide-ranging territory; names escape me.
These are Very Good suggestions. Are your cats all right. Tell them we didn’t mean to scare them. Love, Arya
Kitties are fine, thanks, Arya. You are sweet to ask. It was I who scared them with my ‘hoot,’ not you. And they recover fast. The door ring always scares them, too. It would wake the dead. Keep trying to manage Jack!
Managing Jack is Very Hard. He doesn’t like to be managed. But I try. 🙂
Great endorsements. Jack’s campaign manager could give advice to so me people candidates.
Thank you. We are working hard on quality endorsements. 🙂
