Flat Jack – On the Road Again, Part 2

Flat Jack was invited on an adventure by his friend, Deborah. He’s traveled to Oregon to her home and then to Arizona to be a guest at the Western Jurisdictional Conference. Deborah took him to a museum of musical instruments. His mom is missing him, but knows he’s having a terrific time.

Flat Jack, still on his trip to the west, visited the Museum of Musical Instruments in Scottsdale, AZ. He is a music-loving Scottie and was pleased to find a wee bit of Scotland clear out in AZ. “Now, this feels like home!”

“I like this hooman. But where’s his head?”

Flat Jack is interested in learning to play the bagpipes. He wonders what Mom will say when she hears about it.

“Brah-ooooooooo-rhuuuuu-wwwwwwoooooouuuuuuuu.”

Jack’s host and tour guide sent this note with the pictures,

Here’s to let the Homefront know that each evening when darkness falls and quiet (if not cool) envelops us, Jackie misses home. I assure him that all is well – he is on a good adventure – and that the hoomans and Arya know what he is up to and are enjoying his photos. Arya is on squirrel watch for him. I would let him call home but those woofs just all get muddled on a cell phone link, ya know.

We have pancakes at the hostel each morning. He likes to sleep in – or try to chase That Cat With the Crinkly Ears. Maybe he will sample a pancake tomorrow – but the syrup may be sticky. Can’t go to WJC as a sticky beast.

Flat Jack reminds all visitors to Arizona, “Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. And drink some water.”

Pancakes are great with real maple syrup, Flat Jack, just don’t get any on your beard!

  2. I love the “hydrate and be sure to drink water”. Reminds me of the first time I saw a “Water not potable” sign and thought, “Well, I don’t want to take it anywhere with me, I just want a drink now.”
